Jan 2014 - Coopers, looking good at 30

POSTED BY 18.02.2014,

2013 saw Coopers mark its 30th anniversary of trading by inviting each and every one of its employees to join in with the celebrations by giving them their own Birthdays off work.
Established in 1983, Coopers Fire is the latest in a long line of Cooper’s family owned businesses dating back to 1871, all with their roots deeply entwined within the blind manufacturing industry.
But the Coopers Fire, and indeed the fire and the smoke curtain industry that we know today, were arguably conceived back in the mid-70’s when Andrew Cooper was challenged by a pioneering architect to find a non-evasive system for safely controlling hot smoke that would permit his desire to design open plan buildings.
Rising to the challenge, Andrew Cooper set about applying 5 generations of Coopers Blinds trading knowledge to develop the first automatic smoke curtain, giving birth to the smoke and fire curtains we know today.
