The Louvre Abu Dhabi is an art and civilization museum, located in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The museum was established on 8 November 2017. The museum is located on the Saadiyat Island Cultural District. It is approximately 24,000 square metres (260,000 sq ft) in size, with 8,000 square metres (86,000 sq ft) of galleries, making it the largest art museum in the Arabian peninsula.
Coopers Fire is proud to have been involved in the manufacture of fire curtains for the inspiring and ingenious ‘floating domed’ museum. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is sister to the Louvre in Paris and was designed by the famous architect, Jean Nouvel.
Coopers Fire worked closely with BuroHappold to offer innovative fire protection using the FireMaster Horizontal and FireMaster Vertical fire curtains.
Coopers innovative FireMaster Plus2 fire curtains was also used to create tenable zones as the product offers both integrity and radiance performance. The use of all the fire curtains allowed the open plan design of the museum to be realised by offering fire compartmentation and boundary protection.
A total of 20 Simplex and Duplex FireMaster Horizontal fire curtains and 110 FireMaster and FireMaster Plus fire curtains have been installed in the museum by Coopers Fire UAE partners, Dosteen Doors.
The majority of the horizontal fire curtains were installed in the museum gallery rooms in large skylights that fill the rooms with natural light.
The vertical fire curtains were installed between rooms offering fire separation by compartmentation and over windows for boundary protection.
All of the fire curtain products installed were carefully designed to be completely hidden from view until required in the event of a fire.
Dosteen Doors were able to work closely with the contractors on this project to satisfy the fire regulations. The fire curtains were fully project managed so able to ensure the final, fitted products satisfied the high quality finish required. Coopers Fire are Independently Third Party Certified for Product Testing and Installation.
Coopers Fire fire curtains are recognised as the modern alternative to firewalls, fire doors and glazing, giving designers the freedom to design modern, open plan spaces without compromising fire safety. They are increasingly specified by designers as a solution for open plan designs.
