Summary of Role

A hands-on HSE Officer role. Working as part of our small team, the successful HSE Officer will play a key role in supporting our management systems, delivering QHSE inductions and safety training to staff, conducting risk assessments, audits and helping to promote a positive culture whilst ensuring the company adheres to all current legislation, policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive HSE culture throughout the company and supply chain. Contribute to the Company’s HSE commitments in highlighting and promoting best practice.
  • Monitor and review site performance when needed through inspections and audits
  • Assist and participate in the highlighting of health-related risks and training.
  • Agree remedial action with SMT on any non-conformance and carry out follow up review to ensure the appropriate implementation has taken place.
  • Ensure HSE Risk assessments and COSHH documentation are maintained.
  • Ensure all teams are aware of the risk assessment control measures and their requirements to comply with them.
  • Ensure safety related training is kept up to date.
  • Ensure full implementation of the Company’s Accident Reporting Procedure.
  • Liaise with the CI&QHSE Manager on Annual Policy and Management System review.
  • Ensure the implications of changes in legislation and environmental, safety techniques are communicated and implemented throughout the Company and Supply Chain.
  • Continual spot checks & policing of our safe systems of work.
  • Drive HazSpots reporting up from the assembly floor teams.
  • Maintain relevant HSE procedures in accordance with the Company’s Integrated Management System.

skills and experience

essential:

  • HSE qualification i.e. NEBOSH Construction or General certificate
  • Knowledge or understanding of current health and safety legislation
  • Experienced in site specific RAMS
  • Strong IT and numeracy skills, familiar with Word and Excel

desirable:

  • CSCS Card
  • Health & Safety qualification

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Contract/Project Management
  • Managing teams of site based installers or servicing teams
  • Construction Sector
  • Managing Construction Projects
  • Ability to read drawings and interpret technical requirements
  • Excellent customer service & communication skills

Desirable:

  • Construction experience
  • ISO 14001 experience
